Our Stained Glass program is growing and the Molokai Arts Center is excited to host another three-day Beginners workshop for adults on consecutive Fridays this month – February 8, 15, and 22, from 9:30am-12:30pm. One of our most popular classes, “Introduction to Stained Glass” will be taught by local artist Dorothy Donaldson. Donaldson and her husband Lyn lived in Windward Oahu and Arizona before deciding to make their home on Molokai. She worked with stained glass as a hobby for over 30 years and created beautiful doors for her home in Kaaawa. She also built a stained glass aquarium for their bathroom. We now have dedicated space for the stained glass supplies so that we can offer more classes.
Beginning students will complete a 10″ x 12″ zinc framed project. Students will learn the Copper Foil Method, techniques, and process in creating stained glass pieces. The classes are progressive. Students and anyone entering the studio during the workshops are required to wear hard shoes for safety. Cost is $40 for three sessions and class is limited to eight students. Annual members pay a discounted price of $32. Register through the Molokai Arts Center website.
We will not offer a Stained Glass workshop in March, but we will offer a three-day Intermediate workshop for adults in April. Students who have successfully completed a beginners workshop or have prior experience creating stained glass projects may enroll in the intermediate workshop.
