As we’re moving into the fall season, we at the Molokai Arts Center are busy gearing up for our 6th Annual Member Art Show, which will kick off with a gala opening event on Wednesday, November 29 at the Molokai Community Health Center (details to come). After the opening, the show will be installed at the Molokai Public Library until December 13. As the MAC grows, our events grow and change with us. Our goals here are simple: to have even more fun, and to create more opportunities for our Molokai artist community. Last year we introduced prizes into our juried art show, and this year we’re thrilled to announce a new prize being offered in addition to what we had before: Hawaii Craftsmen, a Honolulu based nonprofit supporting the arts and crafts in Hawaii, in celebration of their 50th anniversary is offering a special $250 prize, plus 2 one year Hawaii Craftsmen memberships, to go to winners of their choosing.
Pieces will be juried into the show by our upcoming Artist in Residence Ava Fedorov, who will also select for the Best in Show prize category. There will also be the People’s Choice Award, Board of Directors Award, College Student Award, Keiki awards, as well as a special $250 award presented by Hawaii Craftsmen. We will begin accepting submissions into the show on Saturday, October 21, and the absolute deadline to submit will be Saturday, November 4 at 3 pm. Entry is limited to active Studio and Annual MAC members, and each entrant is allowed to submit up to three pieces in any medium; so if your magnum opus needs completion or touching up, now is the time to get in gear. If you have questions, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to seeing your masterpiece!
